THE GREEN CPEC ALLIANCE

The Green CPEC Alliance was established in 2022 to promote environmentally sustainable development along the China–Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), a flagship corridor of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI).

The Alliance supports investors, project developers, policymakers, and communities involved in CPEC-related initiatives. Its objective is to accelerate green investment and sustainable infrastructure development.

The Alliance was established under the leadership of the Pakistan China Institute (PCI) in Islamabad, led by Mustafa Hyder. It also includes the Green Finance & Development Center (GFDC) at the Fudan International School of Finance (FISF) in Shanghai, led by Prof. Dr. Christoph Nedopil Wang, and the Sustainable Development Policy Institute (SDPI) in Islamabad, led by Dr. Abid Qaiyum Suleri.

Since its inception, the Green CPEC Alliance has worked closely with Chinese and Pakistani decision-makers. It provides opportunities to share experiences, best practices, and knowledge related to green development.

Initiators

Partners

As Minister of State for Climate Change, I commend Mr. Mustafa Hyder Sayed and Mr. Christoph Nedopil for their tremendous role in advancing the Green CPEC Alliance. The Alliance reflects the kind of forward-looking cooperation Pakistan needs at this critical moment, where climate priorities must be embedded into economic planning, infrastructure development, investment frameworks, and regional partnerships. From my perspective, its value lies not only in shaping the discourse around green development, but in helping create a serious platform for aligning sustainability, resilience, and long-term national progress within the broader Pakistan-China partnership.
