Pakistan-China Institute (PCI)

The Pakistan–China Institute (PCI) is an independent, non-governmental policy research organization established in Islamabad in 2009 with the objective of promoting deeper strategic, economic, and cultural engagement between the Islamic Republic of Pakistan and the People’s Republic of China. Conceived as a platform for informed policy dialogue, the institute conducts research, organizes high-level conferences, and facilitates exchanges among policymakers, scholars, and business leaders from both countries.

PCI’s work focuses on strengthening bilateral cooperation across a range of sectors, including trade and investment, energy security, environmental sustainability, regional connectivity, and geopolitical cooperation within Asia. A significant portion of its research agenda examines the evolving development trajectory of the China–Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), a flagship initiative under China’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI). Through policy briefs, research publications, and strategic dialogue forums, the institute seeks to contribute to evidence-based policymaking and to foster long-term institutional cooperation between Pakistani and Chinese stakeholders.

Sustainable Development Policy Institute (SDPI)

The Sustainable Development Policy Institute (SDPI) is an independent public policy research organization founded in August 1992 in Islamabad with the mandate to advance sustainable development in Pakistan through rigorous research, policy analysis, and advocacy. The institute operates as a non-profit and non-partisan entity that engages with national governments, international development agencies, academic institutions, and civil society organizations to promote policies that balance economic growth, environmental stewardship, and social equity.

Green Finance & Development Center (GFDC), Fudan University (FISF)

The Green Finance & Development Center (GFDC) is a specialized research institution based at the Fanhai International School of Finance (FISF) of Fudan University in Shanghai. The center focuses on the study and promotion of sustainable finance, green investment frameworks, and environmental risk governance, with particular emphasis on China’s overseas investment activities and the broader landscape of sustainable development in emerging and developing economies.

 

GFDC provides independent research, advisory services, and capacity-building initiatives aimed at strengthening the integration of environmental, social, and governance (ESG) standards within international infrastructure and development financing. The center closely monitors investment flows associated with the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) and publishes analytical reports assessing trends in green finance, renewable energy investment, and environmental risk management in partner countries. In relation to Pakistan, GFDC has produced policy research examining how green finance instruments—such as sustainable bonds, climate-aligned investment frameworks, and blended finance mechanisms—can accelerate the decarbonization of CPEC projects and support Pakistan’s broader energy transition objectives.

Institute for Energy Economics and Financial Analysis

The Institute for Energy Economics and Financial Analysis is an international research organization that analyzes energy markets, financial trends, and policy developments. IEEFA’s work focuses on accelerating the transition toward sustainable energy systems through independent analysis of fossil fuel investments, renewable energy opportunities, and climate-related financial risks.

BRI International Green Development Coalition

The BRI International Green Development Coalition is a multilateral platform established to promote environmentally sustainable development within projects associated with the Belt and Road Initiative. It facilitates cooperation among governments, international organizations, research institutions, and civil society to advance green standards, climate action, and ecological protection.

Renewables First

Renewables First is a research and advocacy organization working to accelerate the adoption of renewable energy in Pakistan and South Asia. Through policy research, stakeholder engagement, and public outreach, the organization promotes clean energy solutions, energy sector reform, and pathways toward a low-carbon energy system.

Institute for Essential Services Reform

The Institute for Essential Services Reform is an Indonesian policy research organization focused on energy transition, climate policy, and sustainable development. IESR works with governments, civil society, and international partners to accelerate the shift toward renewable energy and low-carbon economic systems in Southeast Asia.

Asia Clean Energy Partners

Asia Clean Energy Partners is a regional initiative that facilitates collaboration among policymakers, researchers, and industry stakeholders to advance clean energy development across Asia. The organization promotes knowledge exchange, technical cooperation, and policy innovation to support renewable energy deployment and energy transition strategies.
