Pilot ESG Reporting Framework for Renewable Energy Projects under China–Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC)

This proposes a practical template to measure and report the environmental, social and governance (ESG) performance of CPEC renewable projects. The paper explains Pakistan’s emerging ESG regulatory landscape and the current gap in adopting global reporting standards, then introduces a tailored framework built around material ESG factors, specific KPIs and a simple 1–5 scoring system. It also provides clear investor guidelines on how to achieve higher scores across climate, water, biodiversity, community, labour and governance dimensions, helping regulators, financiers and project developers align CPEC energy investments with international sustainability expectations.
