Dr. Christoph Nedopil Wang is the Director of the Griffith Asia Institute and a Professor at Griffith University in Brisbane, Australia. He is also the Founding Director of the Green Finance and Development Center and serves as a Visiting Professor at the Fanhai International School of Finance at Fudan University in Shanghai and at Singapore Management University.
His work focuses on sustainable finance, infrastructure, innovation, and environmental policy. He advises governments, financial institutions, businesses, and civil society organisations on sustainable development and green finance. He has contributed to policy and research initiatives for international organisations and government bodies, including the China Council for International Cooperation on Environment and Development, the Chinese Ministry of Commerce, the Asian Development Bank, the International Finance Corporation, the United Nations Development Programme, and the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific.
Dr. Nedopil is also a member of the Belt and Road Initiative Green Coalition under China’s Ministry of Ecology and Environment. He has authored several influential reports, including the UNDP SDG Finance Taxonomy, and has published research in leading academic journals such as Science. His expertise on sustainable finance and infrastructure is frequently cited in international media, including the Financial Times and The Economist.
Earlier in his career, he worked with the World Bank, the International Finance Corporation, and the German development agency GIZ, where he directed the Sino-German Sustainable Transport Project in Beijing. He has also held academic positions at leading universities in China.
Dr. Nedopil holds a Master of Public Administration from the Harvard Kennedy School and earned both a Master of Engineering and a PhD in Economics from the Technical University of Berlin.
